There are several opportunities for students to present their research at Rice including the Summer Research Symposium each summer, Inquiry Weeks events each spring, and the The Gulf Coast Undergraduate Research Symposium (GCURS) each fall.
Summer Research Symposium
The Summer Research Symposium is hosted by the Office of Undergraduate Research and Inquiry and brings together over 150 students who are engaged in summer research at Rice to present their research to faculty, staff, and peers at a poster session and compete for awards. Check out the 2025 Abstract Book and learn more about the event here.
The Gulf Coast Undergraduate Research Symposium (GCURS)
First held in 2008, the annual Gulf Coast Undergraduate Research Symposium (GCURS) is one of the longest-running and most prestigious undergraduate research conferences in the southeast. Open to students from all universities and hosted by top-ranked Rice University, GCURS provides students around the world the opportunity to present their original research to an audience of their peers.
Inquiry Weeks
The mission of Inquiry Weeks is to recognize and celebrate ongoing research, design, and creative work by undergraduate students at Rice University. The two-week series of events sponsored by the Office of Undergraduate Research and Inquiry (OURI) aims to provide an opportunity for students to showcase their projects and achievements in variety of settings, while students, faculty, and staff have the opportunity to learn more about the projects occurring at Rice.
